Exotic Travel Scarves

The versatility of travel scarves

Our textile travels have taken us to many regions of the globe, including the Middle East, Asia and also Europe, and journeys would not be complete without my versatile travel scarf.  European weather is perfect for glamming up with a holiday scarf and it is are also a great way to cover up when visiting culturally sensitive places in S E Asia.

What do you use your favourite scarf for?

I'm going to share with you some personal tips on how best to use yours.  When we first started travelling across Europe, Asia and South East Asia so many years ago and transport was very basic, scarves soon became part of my everyday outfit and proved SO useful on all those long and slow bus, train, ferry, plane, jeep and car journeys.  I discovered that you can use a scarf as a sarong, pillow, blanket, train compartment curtain, towel (dries in no time), mosquito protection, modest cover-up for temple visits, sun shade on a bus and face cover for privacy while waiting for hours on a crowded Indian train platform!

Packing a minimalist wardrobe for your trip

Make your journey even more comfortable & glamorous!  A lightweight travel scarf made from natural fibres such as cotton, hemp or silk is most practical for seasonal weather. Bigger is better when doubling it as a shawl, sarong or skirt, makeshift dress or bed cover.  It takes up little space, is versatile, looks chic and as a fashion accessory livens up a minimalist wardrobe with a pop of colour, pattern or texture to create a new outfit, essential when packing light!

Do you have your perfect travel scarf yet?

When you are not wearing your scarf ... it makes a very original tablecloth, wall hanging, sofa or bed throw, adding character to your bland apartment or hotel room or giving privacy around the pool.  And when you are moving on - it's handy when packing those electronics - or simply making memories!
